Frequently asked questions

Surety, applications and assessment — in plain language.

What is a surety?

A surety is an undertaking under which one party guarantees certain obligations of another party to a beneficiary, subject to the terms of the surety agreement or bond.

Does Avila lend money?

A loan and a surety are different products. Avila provides surety solutions. When financing is associated with a transaction, it may be provided by a separate financial institution or lender.

Can individuals apply directly to Avila?

For individual programs, Avila does not provide surety directly to the public. Applications must be submitted through a participating partner.

Does a good credit score guarantee approval?

No. Multiple factors may be considered, including income, obligations, financial stability and banking activity.

Does poor credit automatically mean a decline?

Not necessarily. Decisions depend on the applicable program and the overall assessment.

What documents may be required?

Depending on the program, identification, banking, employment, financial or corporate documentation may be required.

Does Avila provide construction surety?

Yes, subject to available programs and the eligibility of the contractor and project.
